Reporting to the Manager Health, Safety and Security, the incumbent would develop and manage the Mine Medical facility to ensure the wellbeing of the employees, and to respond to patients and trauma in a timely manner ensuring minimal productive downtime at Woodlark Operations site including contract business partners.
This is a FIFO (or Local) position on a 6 weeks on, 2 weeks off roster (the roster will be amended during the operational phase of the project) for a PNG Citizen. Preferred Points of Hire are Woodlark, Alotau, Port Moresby and Lae.
Key roles and responsibilities include
- Supervising and developing the Mine Medical Clinic.
- Attending to medical emergencies.
- Managing medication and drugs orders and security.
- Reporting medical statistics to Manager Health, Safety and Security on a daily, weekly, monthly basis or as requested.
- Training of employees working in the Mine Medical Clinic.
- Providing health education and awareness to the workforce and surrounding community.
- Working alongside the Emergency Response Team to establish intensive care and trauma centre in an emergency.
- Providing training and coaching to Emergency Response Team.
- 24 Hour call duty when on site (No alcohol consumption allowed)
- Trauma Response – Must be ready to always respond to an emergency. (24 hours)
Qualifications, Skills and Experience required
- Behaviour consistent with Geopacific’s Values
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience in a similar role
- Formal qualifications issued by Registered Academic institution in emergency medicine
- Cert III in Mine Emergency Response Rescue
- CERT VI in Training ad Assessment (or similar)
- Previous experience treating a diverse workforce and Community
- Previous experience operating a medical clinic and supervising medical staff
- An excellent knowledge of Health and Safety Practices and proven experience in establishing and implementing systems
- A good knowledge of Mine Operations
- Excellent computer, communication and writing skills.
- Computer literacy with Microsoft Products, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint
