Woodlark Island is approximately 70km long and 20km wide, located in the Solomon Sea, in the Milne Bay Province of PNG.
Construction activities have commented to bring the Woodlark Gold Project into production. The project is fully permitted to commence operations with all mining and environmental approvals in place
The Company has engaged GR Engineering Services (‘GRES’) as the engineering contractor on site. GRES has placed and order for the procurement of the SAG and ball mills to commence the early work package on site.
Geopacific continues to advance work packages key to the delivery of the Project including the construction of the permanent camp, exploration drilling, community relocation, engineering and the process plant ground preparation. Key updates include:
- Geotechnical drilling has been completed for the wharf with tenders for the construction of the wharf issued;
- Earthwork activities to prepare the CIL tanks foundations progresses with the placement of geotextile and fill material;
- Continued community relocation program with over 50% of infrastructure complete;
The company expects strong upfront cashflow from the project backed by robust production file, low waste to ore ratio and near-surface gold with the following key operational parameters.
